Master Your Time: 10 Magical Ways to Boost Productivity

Boost productivity

Ten ways to boost productivity in your life:

  1. Use a calendar and if you have a partner, create a shared calendar. Calendars help you organise, prioritise and plan your day, week ahead and months in advance.

  2. Write lists. When you think of something you need to do to, write it down, in your phone, on a post it or notebook. When you don’t rely on your memory you free up space to be creative and problem solve and relax.

  3. Sleep and wake up at relatively the same times every day, including the weekends if you can. Regular sleep helps your circadian rhythm which in turn provides deeper sleeps, helps your body flush toxins from your brain and organise lots of information and also helps you deal with life’s decisions in the day.

  4. Eat for your body and mind. Eat nutritious food to help balance your hormones, support your gut and fuel your body. When your hormones are balanced you are more likely to remain calm and resilient in the face of stress or unplanned problems.

  5. Say ‘no’. When you people please, you prioritise and support everyone else move their goals forward but you. So start prioritising yourself because it is a form of self love. Whatever is important to you is necessary and doesn’t have to be supported by others - belief in yourself starts inside you, nobody can give that to you, so start believing in yourself and prioritise your needs.

  6. Mindset shift - you have 1 life, that is yours to live, nobody else’s, so what are you waiting for? Go and take action. Nobody can take action towards your dreams for you, they are your dreams and therefore required by YOU to go and seize them.

  7. Make life more simple. It can be easy to get carried away making plans to see 5 different people after work in the week, dinner plans, cinema nights, drinks here, coffee there but what if you limited yourself to 3 plans with someone else a week and the rest of the time with yours. You may find you start to have time on your hands to move your priorities forward rather than complaining you don’t have enough time.

  8. Take up a hobby. Hobbies help us create a sense of achievement we may not find in other areas of our lives. This sense of achievement can help you feel more fulfilled in day to day life, which in turn can help you move through your day with purpose helping you smash tasks out of the park.

  9. Set intentions. When you make an internal commitment with yourself you put power behind intending to do something and are more likely to prioritise and complete the task, in the face of tempting distractions, like putting the tv on or hanging out with a mate.

  10. Get up earlier. Where point 3 talks about a regular pattern, here I mean change your pattern so you go to sleep an hour earlier and wake up and hour earlier. When you create space in your mind and time in your day, that you didn’t have before, to get organised or take action on a dream you have, you start your day naturally prioritising yourself and this can lead to a feeling of accomplishment and you haven’t even started your work day yet!
